Prowler

Pencil 11x14

This piece was inspired by time spent at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, FL. A hidden gem of South Florida, this wild animal hospital and sanctuary also offers educational wildlife encounters. As a volunteer, I've studied the animals up close, and this has led to a more realistic depiction in my artwork.

Evening in Bloom

Acrylic Paint on Paper 15x22

Two ghost orchids stand in stark contrast against the Florida wetlands as evening descends. This piece was inspired by my wife, who is an avid orchid collector.

Cherry Blossoms

Acrylic on Canvas 36x36

This piece was inspired by my love of Japanese watercolor paintings. It is an artform that has always spoken to me and has influenced several pieces over the years. I can almost feel the damp chill of the fog rolling through the mountains and obscuring the tree line.

Perry

Pencil 11x14

This piece is a drawing of a quirky owl named Perry. He is a Eurasian eagle owl and a relative of the great horned owl. This is one of three pieces donated to the Wine in the Wild event at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Dec. 2022.

Baby Teeth

Pencil 11x14

I was inspired to draw this piece after I had the opportunity to handle this little guy. His name is Risotto and he is actually quite docile. I was fascinated by the texture of the scales on the back of his neck and the experience led to this drawing

Not Again!

Airbrushed Lacquer on Surfboard

I created this piece as a re-imagining of the famous Coppertone ad. She is a little older and a little wiser, but it seems every time she goes to the beach it happens again. This surfboard was painted using the airbrush, which applies very small amounts of paint to maintain the smooth surface of the item to be painted. The airbrush is one of the most versatile tools in my belt and is used to paint artwork on anything from glass and cars to boats and motorcycles, and even golf carts.
